A Day at Dayboro Community Kindy
Our spacious and nature-rich outdoor environment offers a variety of hands-on experiences for children. From playground fun to caring for chickens, observing stingless bees, tending to vegetable gardens, composting and exploring our worm farm – there’s always something to discover. Children also enjoy our fruit trees, mud kitchen, loose parts play area, bike tracks, and lush grassy lawns. These elements provide meaningful, real-life learning about the life cycles of plants and animals. We welcome children aged 3 to 5 (turning 4 before June 30), supporting their growing minds and bodies in a calm, nurturing and inspiring setting.

About Us
Nestled in the heart of Dayboro, Dayboro Community Kindergarten has been a beloved part of the local community for over 50 years. As a not-for-profit, community-run centre affiliated with Gowrie Queensland, it offers a nurturing, nature-based learning environment for children aged 3 to 5. With a strong focus on sustainability and child-led exploration, the Kindy encourages curiosity through hands-on activities like gardening and caring for animals. Small group sizes and passionate educators support a holistic approach to early learning, helping children thrive in a warm and engaging setting.
We are proud of our comprehensive sustainability program. Rather than simply discussing the basics of sustainability – such as recycling and water conservation – our program is integrated and holistic in its approach, allowing the children to ‘live’ a wide range of sustainability activities.
We run a maximum capacity of 22 children in each group. Children enrolled in ‘A’ Group attend Monday, Tuesday and alternate Wednesdays 8:45am to 2:55pm. Children enrolled in ‘B’ Group attend every Thursday and Friday 8am to 4pm.
Come Visit Us
We welcome Kindy Tours so you can see first hand the beauty of the Kindy and how it will enrich your child’s life. Students have daily outdoor time as part of their curriculum. Nature is also brought into the classroom through physical materials, but also in the selection of reading materials, topics for small group activities, and so forth. In other words, nature is infused into all aspects of the classroom and serves as a tool to achieve learning outcomes. Come and see for yourself!

FAQs
Does my child need to be toilet-trained to attend?
The teachers understand that it can take time for children to develop toilet skills. Educators are happy to assist children to use the toilet (such as sitting on the toilet, assisting to put their clothing on/off, using toilet paper), but are unable to offer places to children who use nappies due to the additional time taken to manage this.
Can I tour Dayboro Kindy?
We have an open-door policy and always welcome visitors; however, if you’re able to arrange a time in advance, it helps us ensure we’re not out on an excursion or at the library when you arrive. We also host an annual Open Day – a relaxed and enjoyable event where your child can explore the environment, and you can meet other families and chat with our staff.
How do you prioritise your waiting list?
