What We Offer

Reading / Writing

Children learn to use symbols, combining oral language, pictures, print and play into a coherent mixed medium, creating and communicating meanings in a variety of ways.

Math / Science

Our maths and science curriculum helps children understand the world they live in and inspires curiosity.

Art

Our unique art program gives children the opportunity to use lines, shapes and colours to create original works of art.

Critical Thinking

We go beyond “what?” and ask “how?” and “why?”. We give children the space and freedom to develop critical thinking skills through hands-on activities.

We are very proud of our comprehensive and well-established sustainability program. Rather than simply discussing the basics of sustainability – such as recycling and water conservation – Dayboro Kindy’s program is integrated, hands-on and holistic in its approach, allowing children to ‘live’ a wide range of sustainability activities right here at Kindy.

We actively promote conservation and encourage children and their families to protect the environment. Native animals and insects are treated with care and respect and are allowed to remain free while appropriate observation for children’s information is made.

The planting of trees and shrubs indigenous to the area is carried out on a regular basis to give effective shade and to provide habitat for birds and other wildlife. The use of fresh food is also encouraged for morning tea and lunch to reduce the overuse of packaging.

Where possible art and music lessons are also provided within the program. As you can imagine, this is very popular with the children and always encouraged. The knowledge and growth in these areas is very satisfying to observe throughout the year. Parents may be asked to pay extra fees from time to time to fund these specialist teachers.

Children aged 3 – 5

Dayboro Kindy operates a play based program and provides a safe, warm and caring environment where the uniqueness of each child is valued and respected.

We offer placement in either:

A Group (8:45am – 2:55pm): Monday, Tuesday and alternate Wednesdays

OR

B Group (8am – 4pm): Thursday and Friday

Children choose their own activities and a focus is placed on the process rather than the end product. Children are free to wonder, explore, create, make mistakes, question and repeat experiences from which they can make their own conclusions.

The program includes aspects of literacy and numeracy learning, well embedded within the context of children’s play.

FAQs

Can I tour Dayboro Kindy?

We have an open-door policy and always welcome visitors; however, if you’re able to arrange a time in advance, it helps us ensure we’re not out on an excursion or at the library when you arrive. We also host an annual Family Fun Day – a relaxed and enjoyable event where your child can explore the environment, and you can meet other families and chat with our staff.

How do you prioritise your waiting list?

Enrolment offers are based on:
– the child’s age (turning 4 by June 30 in the year they attend)
– the date your application is received
It is our policy not to disclose where a child is on our waiting list.

When will I get an enrolment offer for my child?

Our offer process for a position at Dayboro Kindy generally commences between July – August for the following Kindy year (e.g. July – August 2025 for commencement in January 2026).

Do I need to pay an enrolment fee?
Yes, we charge a $25 non-refundable, one off enrolment fee when you accept your offer. However, if you attend the Family Fun Day & enrol the same day, we waive your enrolment fee.
