Kindy Kids Dive into the Joy of Art

Nov 12, 2025

Term 4 kicked off with a burst of creativity and excitement as our kindy children set off on a very special adventure! Our budding artists had the exciting opportunity to visit the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art, marking the grand finale of our engaging art program.

The adventure began with a visit to Tony Albert’s giant hose sculpture which offered a hands-on opportunity to interact with contemporary art, sparking both laughter and creativity.

Children embarked on a gallery treasure hunt as their first activity for the day. Each child received a booklet filled with visual clues to help them locate specific artworks throughout the gallery. Some of the featured pieces were by artists the children had learned about during the year, which made the moment of recognition even more exciting!

Next, the children took part in an observational drawing activity from the third floor of the gallery, overlooking the beautiful Brisbane River. This moment was especially heartwarming for our educators, who saw how far each child had come – not just in artistic skill, but in their confidence and willingness to express their individual perspectives. While some children focused on natural elements like trees and the flowing river, others were drawn to the busy cityscape, observing buildings and people. Each drawing told a unique story, reflecting the children’s growing ability to interpret and represent the world around them.

The day wrapped up with a visit to the Children’s Art Centre, where a variety of hands-on activities awaited. From wacky mirrors and playful patternmaking to digital art stations that created mixed-up creatures and face-swapping fun, both children and adults were thoroughly entertained. Among the highlights were activities inspired by artist Vipoo Srivilasa, who invited children to explore their emotions through drawing, dancing and digital play. The “Garden of Love” activity encouraged every child to think about all kinds of feelings with curiosity, creativity and an open heart.

As this program ends, we hope our young artists leave with more than just lovely artworks. We hope they carry with them a newfound confidence in their creative abilities and a lifelong love for art.

We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful Dayboro community for your incredible support of the Dayboro Kindy’s Ladies’ Night. Your generosity, time and enthusiasm helped make the event a fantastic success. Fundraisers like these play a vital role in supporting our programs and enriching the learning experiences we’re able to offer our children. We are so grateful to be part of such a caring and connected community. Thank you!
