Dayboro Community Kindy children have settled beautifully into Term 2, bringing with them a renewed sense of curiosity and joy. With the familiar routines now well-established, the children have embraced the new term with enthusiasm—ready to explore, learn and play. The kindy has been abuzz with laughter, creativity and collaboration as our little learners dive into hands-on activities, nature play and storytelling. Educators are proud to see strong friendships forming and confidence blooming, setting the stage for another exciting and enriching term ahead.
In the lead-up to ANZAC Day, the children spent time learning about the significance of this important day through age-appropriate stories, discussions and creative activities. To honour the ANZACs, the children created a beautiful poppy garden at kindy using a mix of craft materials and natural elements to symbolise remembrance. Many families joined the children in attending the local ANZAC Day march and memorial service. Together, Dayboro Community Kindy laid a handmade wreath during the ceremony—a heartfelt gesture that reflected the children’s growing understanding of respect, gratitude and the importance of remembering Australian servicemen and women.
As Mother’s Day approached, the children at Dayboro Community Kindy were bursting with excitement as they took part in all sorts of “secret Mother’s Day business” to celebrate their wonderful mums. With big smiles and careful thought, the children visited the Dayboro State School Mother’s Day Stall to choose special gifts—keeping their selections a closely guarded secret! Back at kindy, they got creative making cards and surprises and even starred in a heartwarming video where they answered questions about their mums, sharing sweet and often funny insights. It was a joyful celebration of the love and appreciation they feel every day, and we hope all our kindy mums enjoyed a truly special Mother’s Day.
This term Dayboro Community Kindy have excitedly begun their art program. A much-anticipated part of the curriculum that nurtures creativity and self-expression. Through engaging activities and guided exploration, the children are learning to use their imagination, observe the world around them, and interpret the elements of art such as line, colour, shape, and texture. The program encourages each child to experiment with different materials and techniques, helping them gain confidence in their abilities and see themselves as young artists. It’s been a joyful and inspiring start, with each artwork a unique reflection of the children’s growing skills and creativity.
