Creative Play and Learning Shine at Dayboro Kindy in Term 4

Nov 11, 2024

Term 4 at Dayboro Community Kindy is always a bittersweet time as we see our children take big strides toward their next chapter—starting school! This time of year, we focus on making that transition as smooth as possible. Our routine adjusts to help them build independence, confidence, and the skills they’ll need for primary school. We even have special visits to the local primary school where they get to experience a real classroom environment and meet their future teachers, helping to make that transition less daunting.

But it’s not all about preparing for school. Term 4 has also been packed with fun and exciting activities. Earlier in the year, our fantastic art program culminated in an inspiring class excursion to the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) in October. Building on that, we’re now diving into music, movement, and drama—giving our children a creative outlet to express themselves in new ways.

We’re incredibly fortunate to have Nathalie Cotte from Dayboro Performing Arts Academy joining us for a series of interactive workshops. Nathalie, a past kindy parent and an accomplished performer, has toured her comedy cabaret show across Australia and New Zealand. With professional training from The Actors Centre, NIDA, and Brent St Performing Arts, Nathalie brings a wealth of experience and passion for the arts.

Through her academy, she inspires children to explore music, dance, and drama in ways that encourage both creative expression and personal growth.

Her sessions have been an absolute hit! The children have been exploring rhythm, storytelling, and dramatic expression while developing their physical coordination and motor skills. They’re not just learning how to perform—they’re building confidence, teamwork, and empathy as they collaborate in group activities. Through music, movement, and drama, our kindy children are discovering new ways to express their feelings, solve problems, and explore their imaginations.

This term really is a celebration of growth, creativity, and connection. Watching the children cheer each other on, experiment with new ideas, and have fun while learning has been wonderful. It’s these moments that make kindy such a special time for both children and families.
