Creativity and Confidence Bloom at Dayboro Kindy

Dec 22, 2025

Term four at Dayboro Community Kindergarten is always a special time – a mix of excitement, pride and just a touch of bittersweet emotion as we watch our children prepare for their next big adventure: starting school!

Our focus is on helping each child make a confident and positive transition to primary school. Daily routines are gently adjusted to encourage independence and self-assurance, while developing the practical skills they’ll soon need in a new learning environment. Visits to our local primary school are always a highlight – giving the children an opportunity to explore classrooms, meet teachers and experience a little taste of “big school” life.

But the end of the year isn’t just about preparation — it’s also about creativity, exploration and fun! Earlier in the year, our art program culminated in a fantastic excursion to the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA), which sparked so much inspiration and curiosity. Building on that creative energy, this term we’ve turned our attention to music, movement and drama, giving children even more opportunities to express themselves through play.

We’ve been fortunate to welcome Nathalie Cotte from the Dayboro Performing Arts Academy for a series of interactive workshops. A former kindy parent and accomplished performer, Nathalie has toured her comedy cabaret show across Australia and New Zealand and trained at The Actors Centre, NIDA and Brent St Performing Arts. Her passion for the arts and her wonderful connection with children makes her sessions a true highlight of the term.

Through singing, dancing and storytelling, the children have been exploring rhythm, movement and dramatic expression — all while building confidence, teamwork and empathy. These creative experiences not only develop coordination and motor skills but also help children learn to communicate, collaborate and express their feelings in new ways.

Term four at Dayboro Kindy truly celebrates growth, creativity and connection. Watching our children support one another, experiment with new ideas and take joy in learning reminds us why this stage of childhood is so magical. It’s a wonderful time for both children and families – a time when imagination shines and lifelong confidence begin to grow.

As the year comes to an end, we’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our 2025 families for your support, enthusiasm and involvement throughout the year. It’s been such a joy to share this journey with you. To our children heading off to school – we wish you all the best as you begin this exciting new chapter. We know you’ll carry your curiosity, kindness and creativity with you wherever you go. And to all our families returning in 2026, we look forward to another wonderful year of play, learning and community at Dayboro Kindy.
